GROOVY PHOTOG ACCESSORIES, HALF MARATHONS, AND BOOKS YOU CAN'T PUT DOWN

There are all kinds of funky and fun camera accessories and gear out there for photogs and here are a few that caught my eye recently.

I ran my first half marathon last Sunday, and I still feel like a ran a half marathon ;). My hips and left foot are aaaaachy! I really didn't "train" for this race..frankly, I'm not that disciplined. I run a few times a week anywhere from 3-6 miles, outdoors on mostly flat surfaces. My goal was to come in at 2hrs 10mins. I crossed the finish line at 2hrs 45seconds averaging a 9:15 mile. Not too bad, a personal best for me. I was high all day from it. Next up is the 10 mile Lake George to Bolton Landing distance run in June, the Boilermaker 5k in July (the half was sold out!) and finally the Saratoga Palio half in September. I have a great group of ladies that I run with. We call ourselves 'Fit Bits', short for Fit Bitches :). We inspire, support, encourage and cheer each other on. Love these ladies! In fact I think I might just get them each one of these cute little thinga-ma-jigs! Awww...

Fifty Shades... Oh Mr. Fifty Shades. Have you read this yet??? Lol! I think most woman either have by now or will be in the future... like, the whole trilogy. Be forewarned.. it is xxx-rated, and you may just want to purchase it on your kindle.. so no one knows what you are ~~screeching~~ giggling about.

CREATIVE FEE & COLLECTION PACKAGES

All collections include phone consultation, 1 hr session at my home outdoor studio or location of your choice within 10 miles, with the option of 3 wardrobe changes. I do not require you to order a print package from me though professional quality prints and products are available through me. A USB flash drive containing 30 edited images for making your own prints is included in your session fee as well as a photo slideshow set to music. You will also be provided with a link to preview and share your photos online with family and friends.

For locations outside of the Lake George/Queensbury area add $25 travel fee.

FULL PAYMENT IS EXPECTED AT THE TIME OF YOUR SHOOT.

A TYPICAL SESSION

MY STYLE

I like to think of myself as a lifestyle photographer... I am attracted to photography that is photojournalistic in nature, preferring to shoot genuine, candid shots of people being people. I do lots of portrait style photography as well, but am always looking for those candid, natural and unexpected moments to capture and mix in.

My style is carefree and layed back . I like to keep it real, simple, and affordable. There are no rules when it comes to our photo session... and that goes for children especially! Some of the best shots are those that capture them being their curious, spontaneous selves... so Mom and Dad, no worries.. Let them be! I tend to keep a loose structure, being sure to get those "tried and true" shots, but for the most part letting things unfold naturally.

I want you to be comfortable and have fun, and I'll be having fun right along with you!! When you are having a great time it shines through the lens and into your photos.

LOCATION

I love to be creative and drum up new ideas, poses, themes, locations etc.. Nothing is too crazy for me and I am open to your ideas! Outdoor, under natural light is my favorite place to shoot. State parks, city parks, playgrounds, beaches, backyards, back alleys, you name it.. I do most shoots right at my home in a country setting with plenty of options for natural backdrops as well as some unexpected props.

WARDROBE

When it comes to clothing my feeling is that anything that expresses who you are is GREAT! Lots of layers, different textures, bright colors, soft muted pastels... Be creative! Just avoid anything that might distract from your photo like brand logos, or anything with characters like Disney, Dora the Explorer etc.. Jewelry can sometimes distract as well, so I suggest keeping it simple.. or not.. bold can work well here too sometimes. For a 1 hr shoot 1-3 outfits is sufficient. I also recommend bringing along any fun props if you wish.. We certainly don't need them, but they have their place and can add an element of fun and interest and make your shoot unique and personal to you. For example, for a child maybe a favorite stuffed toy, blanket, wagon, chair, doll. Bubbles and/or balloons are great as well. For seniors maybe your saxaphone, or cello ;). Heck bring your dog!! Seriously!

Tip:

For family and large group portraits it looks best when there is some sort of cohesiveness and continuity to the clothing. For example, all long sleeves or all short sleeves, solid colors in the same 1 or 2 color family, ( greys, blacks, browns, blues, burgundys are my personal faves) same style of dress be it casual or formal. Have an anchor person perhaps with a dress of a few colors and work off of that color scheme for the rest. Embellishments and accessories such as hats, scarves and mittens are great, but again keep it tied in with the color theme.. Vests, jackets and coats are fine but try to have them compliment each other as well if they are going to be left on.

Also, when deciding what to wear and bring to your session don't be afraid to rock it out with bold accessories! Think hats, boots, scarves, hair accessories like headbands or flowers for gals, scarves, pumps and kicks, jackets, hoodies, sweaters.. you get the idea. ;)

oh .. and lip gloss!! don't forget the lip gloss! ;)
